MFT's March Creative Challenge - Stylin’ with Stencils

Thanks for stopping by for MFT's March Creative Challenge, Stylin' with Stencils.

Stencils may not get the same recognition as stamps and dies but believe me, they simply can’t be beat in terms of versatility. Their flexibility and durability make them the perfect choice for adding color and texture with any number of mediums and with close to 70 different options in two different sizes available in the MFT shop, you’re sure to find the perfect design for your next project. This month, our team is inspiring you to play with stencils.

Be sure to stop by the MFT Blog for the list of all the designers sharing projects today.

My first card uses the Small Checkerboard Stencil with an embossing paste. This is one of my favorite ways to used stencils. I really like the subtle texture it adds to a project without the bulk. While the paste is still wet I sprinkled glitter on top of the paste.

The frame is created with the Stitched Rectangle Frames Die-namics from Sweet Tooth Card Stock. The sentiment is from the Birthday Greetings Stamp Set.

I added the scalloped border with a die in Blueprints 14 and threaded embroidery floss through the holes. The flower is created with the Layered Rose Die-namics and the leaves with the Layered Leaves Die-namics.

On the inside I used the Small Checkerboard Stencil with Banana Split Premium Dye Ink. The sentiment is also from the Birthday Greetings Stamp Set.

On the second card I used the Herringbone Bricks Stencil and created a variegated pattern with six different Premium Dye Inks. Links to the ink colors are in the links below.

The balloons are cut with the Balloon STAX Die-namics, and stamped with the Happy Birthday Background Stamp, the Swiss Dot Background Stamp,  and the Diagonal Stripes Background Background Stamps.

The sentiment is from the Totally Happy Stamp Set and stamped in Lush Lagoon Dye Ink, and cut out with the Stitched Fishtail Flags Die-namics.

Here are the products I used to create my cards:
