CTD270 - Celebrate

Thanks for stopping by for Color Throwdown 270! This week is Wanda's turn to host the challenge. For inspiration she chose this pretty, elegant scene. I love the green mixed with the neutral colors.

I used the color challenge to create this 12 x 12 scrapbook page. The photo is of my husband and youngest daughter from an event in freshman year of college.

The patterned paper is from Prima and then I used the MPD Graduated Diamonds Stencil to add the diamond pattern to the background. I used a sponge and Black Licorice Ink.

Celebrate is added with the LLD Accent It - Celebrate Die-namics.

The flower is created with the Hybrid Camellia Flower Die-namics and the leaves with the Layered Leaves Die-namics. Then I added some paper roses and silk leaves from my stash. I used the Large Fancy Flourish Die-namics to add the silver swirls.

The sentiment is from the Journal It - Library Card Stamp Set. I thought it was perfect for the photo because when our youngest went off college it started a new chapter for her and us!

Hope you have a chance to play along!

You do not have to have the exact colors to play the Color Throwdown challenge,  just use the closest you have.  Use the link service to post your card and please link directly to your card so we can find it easily. And please include a link in your post to the Color Throwdown. If you upload your card to a public forum, please use the keyword CTD270.  Be sure to check out what the other team members have come up with this week!

MFT's November Creative Challenge - Projects that Warm the Heart

Thanks for stopping by for MFT's November Creative Challenge. This month challenge is to create Projects that Warm the Heart. Beat the chill of the winter season with projects to warm the heart.  Incorporate both the cold of winter, along with a warm heart for a magical mix to help chase the winter blues away.

Be sure to check out the MFT Blog for a list of all the designers who have a project to share with you today.

And here is my take on the challenge.

To create the background on the card I used the Fluttering Hearts Die-namics to cut the hearts down the center of the card.

The large hearts are cut with the Layered Hearts Die-namics. Both of these hearts in the Die-namic set and the smaller heart cuts the small holes that I threaded the Hemp Cord through.

I used the Scallop Stencil and Wild Cherry Ink to create the background pattern on the heart. The sentiment is from the Pure Innocence Warm Wishes Stamp Set, stamped in Whip Cream Ink.

The Snowflake with cut with Let it Snowflake Die-namics. I cut the snowflake once from Whip Cream Card Stock and once from a lightweight chipboard. I glued them together and then added a coat of MIX-ables Sheer Sparkle Glitter Glaze and then added three MFT Buttons.

On the inside I stamped a sentiment from the Pure Innocence Warm Winter Stamp Set.

To go with the card I made a little treat box that holds tea bags and a gift card. The box is created with the Treat Tote Die-namics. I used the Scallop Stencil again to create the pattern. I added the doily with the Heart Doily Die-namics.

The sentiment is from the Pure Innocence Warm Wishes Stamp Set. The red heart is cut with the Hearts a Plenty Die-namics and the snowflake is the smallest one in the Let it Snowflake Die-namics

Shabby Tea Room Guest Designer

Hi and thanks for stopping by today! I am very excited to be the Guest Designer this week over that the Shabby Tea Room Challenge Blog. I am a big fan of Shabby Tea Room and their talented Design Team!!

This week's them is Christmas is Coming, inspired by this pretty, warm and cozy photo. We are challenged to create a card/project inspired by the photo using brown, white & red.

And here my take on the challenge! Christmas is Coming! And I know I will be giving out a few gift cards. I think that a pretty card or packaging can make a gift card a little more special.

I created the background pattern with snowflakes from the Snowflake Splendor Stamp Set, stamped in Sweet Tooth Ink, and heat embossed with white embossing powder on Wild Cherry Card Stock.

The gift card holder is cut with the Gift Card Pocket - Vertical Die-namics. It is layered on burlap cut with the Rectangle STAX Die-namics.

The snowflake is cut with the Let it Snowflake Die-namics and I added glitter for a little sparkle. The sentiment is from the Starry Christmas Stamp Set.

On the inside I stamped a sentiment from the Cheerful Christmas Greetings Stamp Set.

Hope you get a chance to play along! And thanks Debbie for the opportunity!
