A Book Lovers Birthday

The challenge this week at Just Rite Stampers is to make a bookmark, a perfect challenge for a little birthday gift I need for a friend this weekend. She loves to read, so a new bookmark and gift card will make a perfect present!

I used the Just Rite Stamp set called By the Sea. I got this wonderful set a while back and this was my first chance to ink it up!

The image is colored with Copics and I used a white gel pen to highlight the waves. I stamped the sentiment on Kraft with red ink. The layout for my card is Karen's Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge #74. I added stitching around the edges, added a little lace, and a charm tied on with twine.
On the inside I made a little pocket to hold a Barnes & Noble gift card and used a sentiment from the Just Rite sentiment set, Just a Note.

I mounted my bookmark on a thin piece of chipboard. I used paper to coordinate with the card. I used the lighthouse image from the By the Sea set. I added a little more twine, sewing, and some ribbon at the top.

Hope you are having a good week. Thanks for stopping by,
Melody

A Scrapbook Page

Long before I starting making cards, I was a scrapbooker. And since my addiction to making cards started I have not done much scrapbooking. This year I have been trying to scrapbook a little more, but incorporate all the great cardmaking supplies I have purchased.

This is my daughter Lisa's senior picture from high school. For my layout I used the challenge at the PageMaps blog. Hey, just like card making, a great sketch can give you lots of inspiration! My papers are Basic Grey, Wisteria. I added stitching with my sewing machine around the edges and on my border pieces.

I used chipboard letters that I colored with my Copic, E51, so they were not so white. I make the border using MFT Dienamics Scalloped Scallop and Jumbo Scallop.

The three sentiments are from MFT'S Clearly Sentimental About You. I love these sentiment sets for scrapbooking!

Thanks for stopping by. Hope you all get to enjoy Father's Day. We are having a barbeque and swim party for all the the fathers in our family.

Thank You Cards

I have been making a real effort to stock up on Thank You and Birthday cards. It is just nice to know they are there when I need them!

For this Thank You card I used one of my favorite Flourishes stamp sets, From the Garden. The challenge this week at Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge is to used some type of embossing on your card. The layout if Karen's Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge for this week. The image is colored with Copics and I did a little shading on the leaves with Prism Pencils. The background is sponged.

I added my embossing to my DP using a Cuttlebug folder and then running distress ink over the top. Some sewing, sponging, pearls, lace and ribbon finish off my card.

On the inside I stamped the sentiment using Flourishes Tag Lines. I like to finish off the inside of my card with the scraps I have left over and laying on desk. The my card is ready to go whenever I need it!

Thanks for stopping by today!

A Vintage Alice

Today My Favorite Things is hosting a fun challenge at the Oh, Alice Challenge blog. It is an inspiration challenge based on this beautiful vintage necklace. So how perfect is the MFT stamp set, Costume From Wonderland, for this challenge!!

When I looked at the necklace, I thought, well I want to give Alice a little bit of a vintage look and I had some perfect paper from Webster Pages to get me started.

Alice is colored with Copics and I sponged the background with Tim Holtz Distressing Ink in Scattered Straw. My bottom border is created with the Die-namics Scalloped Scallop and Jumbo Scallop dies. Then I added lace, ribbon, a flourish from Pink Paislee, and a little clock I have had in my stash for ages.

Here is the inside with one of the sentiments for the set.

I hope you get a chance to play the challenge. There is a very nice MFT prize you could win!

A Teacher Thank You

It is hard to believe summer is already here. I am looking forward to being able to enjoy the backyard, having my girls at home, taking a vacation and some time off work.

It also the time of year when we need those little teacher gifts. With that in mind, I sat down and made a thank you card this weekend.

The stamp is MFT's You Make the Grade, and she is colored with Copics and her skirt is paper pieced. I used my Prism Colored Pencils for the floor. The layout is this weeks Mojo Monday 142 sketch challenge. The edges are sponged with Tim Holtz Distressing Ink in Tea Dye. I used the Die-namics Scalloped Scallop die for the border.

I stamped "Thanks" with a sentiment for the MFT set, Thanks a Bunch, in white ink.

The sentiment on the inside is also from Thanks a Bunch.

MFT June Blog Hop and Shop!

Welcome to the June MFT Blog Hop and Shop!! If you came here from Jody's Blog you are in the right place. If you want to start at the beginning of the hop go on over to Kim's Blog.

The new stamp set I am working with is What a Day! It is a little sentiment set that just has lots of words and phrases that come in handy when you are looking for the perfect sentiment.

One of my favorite sentiments in the set is "I only stamp on days that end in y"! It inspired me to make myself a little sketch book for my desk, where I can jot down ideas, sketches, cute embellishment, etc.

I covered the journal in a piece of Graphics 45 DP that I have been saving for some special. I stamped the image, Who's That Digital Girl, colored with Copics and paper pieced her dress. I sewed around the edges and sponged on some distressing ink. Then I added the sentiment.

At the bottom of my book I used the Scalloped Scallops and Jumbo Scallop Dies, for my border. Then I stamped the days of the week, which are included in the set, on Kraft, and added a little more stitching. I love how it came out!

Next up I used another sentiment from the set along with the new PI, A Cart Full of Friends. She is also colored with Copics and her dress is paper pieced. The sentiment is stamped on the larger cloud in the Cloud Trio Die Cut, embossed with a Cuttlebug folder, and sponged with distressing ink.

I used the new Die-namics Fresh Cut Grass Die and the MFT Felt to make my grass. I finished the card off with a little lace.

Here the inside. I stamped the days of the week, ran it through my Cuttlebug and sponged the edges. Sewing and another border with the Scalloped Scallop Die finish the inside.

Hope you have enjoyed this month's fun release!!! Now it is time to hop on over to Frances's Blog. I know she will have something wonderful to share!
